Ever have those days where you just can’t seem to focus? I have days where I get some things done, but despite being able to bill some hours, I don’t feel like I got enough accomplished and then feel guilty. Sometimes I string a few of these days together and feel worse. Can anyone relate? Am I just lazy?

I only have these every single week.

1-2 days a week 🤣

I absolutely have those days (often, actually). I never had a problem focusing in school, but focusing to do work has been difficult lately.

Ahh you guys make me feel 1000% better. Throughout the last year I only see other associates/partners online and think everyone’s killing it while I’m sitting around barely reviewing/revising a doc.

Nah, it’s just like law school. Some people are really good at looking busy. Not everyone is a billing machine.

For everyone saying they have these days every week (me too, multiple times per week). How do you make up your hours?? I fear I’m going to get in a hole and forever be trying to dig out

Thanks and great question - I usually end up having to rush through something or spend time on the weekend/evenings to make up for it. This results in lost personal time or a poor work product (obviously not intentional and I try not to let this happen often)

Do large law firms really recieve enough applications for a position that they cannot follow up when someone reaches out to check on thier application? I get that if you have to reach out, they probably weren't interested anyways, I'm just curious why there is a practice of just leaving applicants in the wind. And also, how does one go about finding out why they were rejected, if thier qualifications are "impressive"?
