OP, you need to pay FICA taxes for the duration you've worked on H1-B. So if your H1-B kicked in on 1st October, you need to pay FICA taxes from Oct - Dec.
Ideally your firm should have started deducting once your status changed. But now you should work with the tax team to figure out how much you owe. It’s going to be a small amount and not worth defrauding the government over. You never know it may come back to bite you later (even if chances are very low).

They never withheld or paid your fica taxes so wht would they ask you to pay it back? Did they just pay both portions of FICA when they figured out they messed up?
yeah. Last year, my W2 has zero fica tax. Seems like the amount they ask for is half the portion (7.65%) on me.
