Not sure if this is the right forum but - my H1B extension has been approved (just got to know today) but my driving license will expire soon. Can my license be renewed without the original extension petition? Or do I need to wait for the originals to come in. Trying to understand what do I need to carry to the DMV. Based in CA. Started the internal GC process in October 2018. Today I-485 status changed to "we ordered your new card." My jail free card is finally on the way I guess. Hope everyone with pending I-485 gets your GC soon!

This one is for folks on h1b visa. So at time when you have an offer in hand(not accepted the offer yet and h1b transfer process not yet begun) while you are working with your current employer, do you even speak to your employer about your new offer to see if they make a counter offer?
Is there a risk involved with this approach assuming your current employer doesn't provide you with a counter offer and they ask you to leave immediately (and your h1b visa hasn't been transferred either)
