I’m considering switching from chase, so I’m on the same boat
I don’t. I just use the points as cash back
That hurt to read...
Just depends where the opportunities are - for me I see a ton of great deals on Turkish airlines, so I transfer there. Can also transfer to British airways and then transfer again from there to others. I’ve never had much of a problem moving points around to the airline of choice.
Lmk if you want a referral
Personally I just have a trip in mind and then go from there. Chase points typically go to Hyatt and Cap One could be various... I think Turkish Airlines, Air France, Air Canada, and British Airways are fine, although it will really depend on the specific trip. Last I checked, I found some Air Canada redemptions for 1.5 cpp, so not bad (obviously not as good as Hyatt but that's tough to beat).
I think it's worth signing up for the Venture X purely for the 90k bonus (if you sign up via referral; happy to provide one) and access to Cap One lounges. Card also pays the $395 fee easily with $300 travel credit and 10k miles every year.
I definitely understand lol. I used to book exclusively through portals (before discovering points) and somehow never got burned for it. But I've read enough horror stories that I will probably only use it for short domestic hotel bookings. I will say that Cap One customer service is excellent, but I've never had to deal with booking issues, so who knows how well they handle that.
Domestic, I feel like I have to go out of my way to get a decent redemption. Theyre possible, especially coast to coast, but the effort to find didn’t feel worth it. International are great though. Flying blue and avios are my go to transfers.
Transfer to Air France for us to Europe trips! Check out the deal on this blog https://seattletravelpointsclub.com/index.php/2023/07/28/seattle-to-madrid-for-20k-points/
