Don’t know about $ value but the option to be upgraded to Comfort + immediately is worth it to me
There are a lot of articles you can Google to give you ranges but honestly it’s very personal depending on what you assign the value of the benefits you will use and the frequency you will use them. There are some spreadsheets you can Google to figure that out as well
You get a gift at platinum worth $200, beyond that you are higher on the upgrade list but I don’t really value that because I’m not interested in booze or snack on flight. There may be a point acceleration factor that would expand your miles won.
Agree about being higher on the upgrade list, but I find the real value of Delta through its CC. If you’re not committed to another travel card, I’d recommend getting the Delta Reserve — even if you don’t fly a ton, you can make status with regular purchases/paying your other bills on the card. The platinum card is better for points through other things like dining, etc.
Lounge access with the Reserve for me has come in very handy with delayed flights and traveling with other people (you get annual guest passes to share) and the free companion tickets balance out the annual fee pretty quickly.
I second the Amex Reserve. Not sure I would spend $800 to get to Platinum. Basically, the only consistent benefit is the automatic upgrade to comfort+. Really hard to get upgraded to first class in a hub with platinum status.
