I just started to week 35. I am huge, feet are swollen, and overall the pregnancy has been a drain and very uncomfortable. If I have to then sit through the commute, not be able to put my feet up when I’m in the office, etc., I’ll be even less productive. So I just told my team lead that I’ll be WFH and he was fine with it.
I started around 35 weeks because I am short and I could no longer safely drive into the office with my belly. Firm was perfectly fine with it. Billed a 9.5 hour day on my last day and gave birth the next morning 😂
I went WFH at 33 weeks with a high risk pregnancy. It was still kind of COVID, so a bit different. I just told them I would be WFH from that point on and everyone accommodated.
At 36 weeks I just told everyone I worked with that I was going to be working remotely from then until birth

I could see something like “Due to some health considerations during the final weeks of my pregnancy, I need to work remotely starting on X”
Recently, my firm (biglaw, v20) has accommodated WFH for pregnancy with a doc note (that just says I’m
pregnant and to please accommodate remote work) as early as second trimester (although I didn’t try to get it earlier in the pregnancy, I might have been able to, even without a doc note). I think this had to do with the enactment of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act in 2023 - ymmv but asking for WFH in third trimester certainly seems reasonable. Good luck!
33 weeks with high risk but also would do it even if I wasn’t. Ask your doc to sign a paper.
Just wanted to say I’m 32 weeks, so right there with you! I’m planning to ask off at 36 weeks, but my firm requires a doctors note. I’m planning to go through HR then talk to the partners I work for that I will be remote the last few weeks.
