For those billing $350-$400/hr, what’s your hourly requirement and salary? Trying to gauge where I stand. I’m located in the Midwest L/MCOL. No book of business.

I'm in the Midwest. I bill at $400, no hourly requirement, 160,000

I bill about out at about that and make $200k in a medium sized metro right outside one of the largest cities in the world. Requirements are loosely 1800 but not enforced. I bill $350 (for certain clients) to $450 an hour.

Last place paid $210k and required 2100 billable hours in one of the largest cities in the world/HCOL area. I was billing out at $475 an hour.

They try to make me look bad at times without noticing. I don’t know how to approach this as we are all in a pretty tight friend group.

Has anyone left healthcare and is now really happy? I’m an MSN, RN with 12 years hospital experience. I’m burned out and tired of making crap pay. I have an opportunity outside of healthcare that would pay more and challenge me in new ways that I haven’t experienced before. It’s a total shift that would really heal my work-life balance, job satisfaction and budget. My only fear is that I would not be using the license and degree that I worked so hard for. I would appreciate any input!!!!

Any advice on how to deal with a partner/boss who is shifting all responsibility to me with zero guidance, no mentoring, and an unwillingness to discuss the issues? (Small firm, only associate under this partner and have been working at the firm for 2 years). There are an increasing number of passive aggressive comments from the partner who expects to be completely hands off once the case lands on my desk. Wants me to figure it all out despite cases being from different areas of law.

I am a new (lateral) associate at a small firm where everyone currently works from the office. When I started, I wasn’t told specific firm hours. I’ve tried to figure out when to come and go based upon when the partners arrive and leave, but their schedules are very inconsistent. The other associates don’t have helpful guidance for me. Assuming that if I ask the partners they’ll say to use my discretion, what are reasonable hours to keep?

Layoffs. Most big firms say they're sitting on a conservative pile of cash - which I believe is true - but work will obviously not return to pre-COVID levels in the short term, probably not even in the medium term. Are Biglaw layoffs coming?
