It's a huge issue all over corporate America. As a former military officer who trained leaders I see gigantic gaps. The management training I do see does not touch the surface on what a manager should know. One side note leader does not mean the same thing as manager, but I am using them interchangeably in this case for simplicity.
Exactly—management training should be more extensive across the board.
At my previous and current companies (all small), this doesn’t exist — and it should. My husband’s employer does provide management training, but they are a global company. There are so many skills that need to be developed to be a trusted and effective manager, and it’s always a work in progress. Communication is a huge gap.
So true! It would be amazing if more companies offered it.

In my experience it’s pretty mixed, but those formal programs are actually kind of rare unless you’re at a bigger company. A lot of places just throw you into it and expect you to figure it out as you go.
Yeah that’s what I’m starting to think too. It’d be nice if they were more common!
No, I got my MBA when I was an analyst to prepare to be a manager
Pro
Mine has a program but you don’t do it right when you go into management. It’s more of a thing you do as it’s available to you.
That’s a nice perk!
