For those of you who have direct reports who work remotely, how do you monitor them? We’ve been using teams to ensure the team is active online at all times when they’re supposed to be. But I learned one of my employees uses a mouse jiggler. Now I’m wondering if all of them are doing it and what other options I have? I’d like to avoid making the team use software that records them through their cameras when they’re logged in but it might come to that.

We use Teams as well and don't do a whole lot other than ensuring everyone is logged in when they're supposed to be. If there were any productivity issues, I'd probably think about digging in further, but that hasn't been a problem to date, so I see no need to. I'm not sure I'd leap right to forcing them to have their cameras on during the work day, but if you know at least one employee is already using a mouse jiggler, it's probably worth sending out an email reiterating that this is strictly against policy. Out of curiosity, how did you discover they were using one?

We have some flexibility in the day, but as long as work is getting done and there is reasonable turnaround time for urgent matters, unless otherwise noted, it’s more hassle than it's worth for us to deploy monitoring software. If it is a huge issue, I would have an expectations meeting and make sure those are being met.

By focusing on things that actually matter?

Also, what kind of Tier 4 sales do you do that you would monitor your employees on camera while working? You weirdo sicko.

I don’t know I mean is the work getting done? If it’s getting done then you really don’t need a monitor they remove if it’s not getting done that’s a different story but that’s more of a performance review to be handled on a one on one basis not something that you need to get software to monitor every person

Outcomes…and systems should have capabilities to date and time stamp any notes or work systematically.
