One day…or maybe I’ll continue to be a senior forever since Offshoring is an option. Guess I should just be happy I still have a job. 🥺🥺🥺
Grateful
Most people see a meaningful jump with a promotion to manager. Regardless of the specific number on day 1, I encourage you to have a long-term view of your career. This is a milestone promotion and will open up many new possibilities, either with your current firm or elsewhere. You will be qualified for a new tier of jobs and your compensation can really start to accelerate.
In my experience it's not a comp reset. It was ~7.5% increase due to the promotion. Then an additional annual increase on top of that.
A reset implies that compensation prior to promo will be disregarded. I don't think that is the case for most companies.
For me it was totally worth the pay bump because I was already doing the job. So there was no increase in workload.
Glad to hear it went well
The pay bump is not life changing and it really isn’t proportional to the added stress. I don’t have aspirations of being a partner so I am considering leaving my firm and taking a senior role anywhere else.
