Aeron is best money I ever spent

Leap v2 (bought used)

Check all the Herman Miller chairs. There have been advances since Aeron.

like

Aeron is the first chair I have ever felt truly comfortable in. Steelcase for me is nowhere near as nice.

like

Steelcase all the way. (Series 1 if you’re a petite person, though)

like

I have both

Leap. The Aeron some people love it or hate it because of its plastic edges on the seat, can be uncomfortable for some

like

Steelcase for comfort, herman for style

Both are well made chairs, but it is going to come down to personal comfort. Try before you buy.

You should try both and see which you like more

I bought an Aeron for my home office and freaking love it. Never tried the Steelcase though.

Steelcase gesture.

Herman Miller Embody. I have one for the office and one at home. Way better than Aeron imho

Foreign LLM student here. I plan to take the NY bar exam in February. I’m thinking of taking a bar prep course (most likely Barbri). They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take? In case it is helpful, I come from a civil law country. Thanks!

Any insight on Brewer (either office, generally curious about the firm). I assume comp after year 1 is discretionary, rather than lock-step, given the size of the firm. Would appreciate happiness, horror stories, of whatever “firm culture” falls between the two. DM me if you don’t want to share publicly.

Just started in Biglaw as a first year - one of the partners made a passing remark that he couldn’t remember my PQE but thinks I’m “the same as X associate”. Went on LinkedIn and saw that X associate is a third year. How do I gently correct this misconception in a future conversation?

Restructuring/Bankruptcy associates, how slow have you been this year so far? Seems like industry wide it’s been a very quiet year.

I can’t stand people that brag about how busy they are or how late they stayed up doing X. They may think they’re just complaining, but the sanctimonious tone is unbearable. I promise you, no one is impressed. You are the problem with this industry.

Anyone have slow months where you burn through a lot of your allotted pro bono/professional development hours to keep hitting minimum daily hours? The past few weeks have been like this for me. Should I be concerned (I.e., will this reflect poorly on me, come review time? Will I have dug myself too much of a hole if I keep burning my non-billable hours?) I’ve been asking partners if I can assist in any projects so I can fill my plate, but I’ve only gotten small (4-6 hour) tasks handed my way.

“Keep costs down”???? I am happy to keep costs down by not working on this ducking matter anymore.
