I will willingly pay 5% taxes to protect the right to choose

A1 then you should just renounce your citizenship and leave. What a foolish comment.

I am probably not going to leave due to family in the area but am planning to move to another state temporarily when I get pregnant to make sure I can access abortion immediately in a medical emergency.
I'm in Houston and I talked to a recruiter about moving to a blue state market when the draft came out. For personal reasons I can't leave until October but I'm definitely getting out before it gets worse.
Dramatic
Coach
Sorry, anyone who thinks not wanting to be forced to go through the pain and trauma of pregnancy and childbirth by the government is “dramatic” can STFU.
Like seriously OP getting away from these people is 100% a good reason not to live in Texas.
I live in TX and am pregnant. My pregnancy is high risk and I’m honestly terrified of what kind of care I will have access to if something goes wrong. SB8 already had a chilling effect across TX for miscarriage care (great TX Tribune article on this) and I worry that I’m no longer the doctor’s priority, the pregnancy is. I don’t have any plans to leave for a lot of reasons but this is adding more stress to an already stressful pregnancy.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out
Sick burn… 🙄
I worry that all the liberals and moderates leaving will increase the GOP death grip in the even slightly red states. Not saying you should be a martyr and stay, but how the hell are we going to fight this?
Coach
Wasn’t there a thread a while ago where everyone in Houston was pretending that living in a red state was totally fine bc there are some liberals in the city so it’s not that bad why would anyone even care about state politics…

Y’all being extra dramatic. If you need an abortion just fly to a different state with all that big law money
I had an abortion last year. The clinic was a block away and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. I can’t imagine having to go to another state.
Coach
Not dramatic at all. People love to ignore that we have terrible maternal mortality rates that are only going to get worse by hamstringing doctors with the threat of criminal prosecution. Pregnancy and giving birth can be SCARY. My mom and I both almost died due to complications. There’s no way I’d live in a state where that experience is made RISKIER by law.
Income tax is not. Texas has none. Colorado has a 4.55% state income tax.
Colorado taxes are low. I live in Denver, and I am a tax attorney.
If you think costs of living in Denver and Texas are the same, you should do a little more investigation. Even denver more expensive then Austin. A simple google cost of living search would reveal that. Or a little common sense in looking at actual real estate prices, gas prices, etc.
Subject Expert
Lol. You obviously haven't been tracking real estate and rent prices in Austin in the last 12 months. You should do the googling you are asking eveyone else to do.
Goodbye 🥳
