You and I are in the same boat 😂
One negative comment and they are ready to push you out the door ? That sounds very unreasonable.
I've had clients request me off their account because they are so incompetent at the required skills needed to use our client and internal facing systems...some situations it's months and months of patience and retraining the client yet they refuse to really engage and hold up their side of the requirements per the contract. So in some cases I have had clients get mad at me for not caving in a doing it all for them. Which would be impossible since I have about 60 clients on my portfolio. I'm extremely patient and diplomatic but Stan firm with certain situations as they will take advantage if I offer to start doing absolutely everything for them. The worst ones are the only who go behind you back in request a new account manager when they know full week that is are not holding up their side of the agreement. But management rarely let clients go, so they shift the account to the next account manager and so it goes. And internally one keeps having to explain to support teams that you are no longer on the business.
BTDT. Start sharpening your resume and getting some external reviews (on linked in or something) from colleagues. And start applying. Once they come forward with the negative feedback nothing you do afterwards is enough.
It's time to leave that place. Not only is your client toxic, but your upper team is as well. I'm grateful to say that the clients who have made my career successful are the good ones – the ones who are human, respect boundaries, and work as part of a team. The bad ones only create anxiety and leave you with bad experiences. Nobody needs a bad and toxic client to grow.
