OP it doesn’t hit until you are making a good salary and being promoted into positions white men want. Usually hits women at Director level and we are then just forced to move laterally until we are pushed out in our 40s. Hoping your generation changes this discriminatory BS!

For women I feel like it hits when you realize that no matter how many awards you win and how great your work is, the industry just isn’t going to promote you any further. For me hitting that ceiling was 12 yrs in to my career.
3 years in and I’m desperately looking for an out.
7 years in and I’m OVER it. I’m always asking myself - what can be next?
7 years in and I've experienced ups and downs. Highly recommend finding a mentor it makes a huge difference. I also enjoy mentoring. And work life balance of course! Try and remember not to take everything too seriously.

@CL1 ugh. I’m sorry That’s so depressing to hear. That’s something else I’m worried about, the inequality issues that I have been fortunate not to experience yet. But I know it’s coming and will definitely change my opinions on things
I’m 5 years in and I still enjoy the work and learning new things. One thing that helps is to find outside hobbies and ventures that help balance the emotional weight from work.
