Generally speaking, is “two weeks notice” reasonable with a plaintiff’s firm?

That's an acceptable standard at most firms provided its enough time for you to transition your cases.

like

Yep. Most of the time they don’t let you stay the two weeks

like

That’s what I gave. It only took me the first week to tee up my cases for the attorney taking them over. Besides that was a lot of sitting around and taking the random deposition here and there. Didn’t even end up finishing up the 2 weeks. This, I think 2 weeks is plenty

Depends how many cases you have and what’s coming up. But generally two weeks is enough. The firm may ask you for an extra week if they’re in a bind but most firms keep their ears to the ground and always have a couple resumes hanging around.

I think two weeks is ideal. It gives you time to transition files. Typically, you have to notify all of the clients you’ve been assigned to that you’re leaving the firm, and the clients get the option of following you or staying with the firm. Be prepared to assist in making calls to clients and drafting transition letters.

Anyone know a Connecticut or 2nd circuit case for this rule? I can’t find one to save my life. A defendant generally is liable for all harmful results that are the normal incidents of and within the increased risk caused by their negligent acts. If a defendant's negligence was a substantial factor in producing the plaintiff's injuries, the element of proximate cause has been satisfied and the defendant would not be relieved from liability for those injuries even though another force concurred..

Hello All,
I am finishing up my second year of practice as a lawyer. I transitioned to plaintiffs pi work from a boutique commercial litigation firm. I like the work and not having to bill. The issue I am having is managing volume. I have about 150 active files some pre-lit and the rest are in litigation. Cases range in value from very small to low six figures. I also take the driver seat for the grunt work on the firms bigger cases which are at or near 7 figure value. I constantly feel (cont.)

Bad faith lawyers out there- do you have success getting extracontractuals with blown policies that were achieved via technicalities or borderline deceptive set-ups? Any experience working @ Chad Jones law?
I’m currently discontent with my income.
(3rd year. Salary=80k and no performance incentive. I brought in $1.4mm AFTER partners claimed over half of fees on my big cases.)
I see CJL offers an incentive+ base but I’m curious about that structure.
Any good or bad firm culture to speak of?
Is it impossible to actually earn a respectable incentive bonus?
Am I going to have some partner come cut me out of any cases where I might actually make a solid fee?

I received a job offer from a PI firm (MVA and tractor trailer cases) in Houston, Texas; the bonus proposed was 2.5% of attorney’s fees for any cases settled each quarter. We are assigned 50 cases a quarter and the top attorney clears $25K each quarter. This is my first time working at a PI firm. Can anyone share any guidance? Is 2.5% industry standard? Is it realistic to settle/resolve that many cases? I am trying to learn more about this niche before I counter-offer and attempt to negotiate.
