Gf and I are thinking about working remote for a month during upcoming Chicago winter. Any recommendations on places to go or has anyone here gone somewhere and loved it? Ideally looking for somewhere warm (san Diego maybe?) or open to international (London?) If its exiting though weather wouldn’t be great. Thanks!

How's the tax situation with working remotely internationally? If your company's okay with it and you have the proper visa, there are so many good options.

HUGE fan of Savannah, GA if you want to stay domestic, Panama City if you want to go international. Just visited the two places in the last month and fell in love!

Miami. No state income tax in Florida so no return to worry about. Not sure if local tax would apply.

Is your plan to get a work visa in the respective country? Or to get a tourist visa and work under that?

I mean it IS illegal.

Aruba or Barbados

I spent last winter in Playa del Carmen, Mexico at the Grand Hyatt. It was great. There are a bunch of digital nomads working in PdC. Good beaches, inexpensive food, diving, etc.

Charleston has mild weather and could be pleasant for a week or two. Maybe combine with Savannah. Great food scene.

I’m a pretty anxious person and I’ve realized that a remote work environment only makes me more so - not being able to read people’s tone well, email/ping responses being more delayed than they would be in a conversation, the awkwardness of virtual meetings, etc. I’m in therapy and will discuss this there but would love to hear some tips about how people manage work anxiety specifically in a remote consulting environment.

I’m wfh for now but not sure how to still be productive and care for her.

Marriage or promotion 😞 I’m on track to make partner at my company. Due to the audit services we sell, we have to disclose all financial relationships, including those of our SOs. I’m engaged to a private investor, and there is no way he is going to disclose/sell investments because my company tells him to (I don’t blame him; I wouldn’t do this, in his position, either). This means I have to quit if I want to marry him 😞 Anyone else experience this kind of compromise / challenge? Any advice?
