Looking purely at logistics- small-midsized companies will remain the same. Excel is the backbone, it's not worth it going for advanced systems. large companies will digitally transform and outsource operations to 3pls. It actually stupid how much money large companies waste. So if you have the systems in place that does the work of finding cost leakage for you as well as automating most of the operations, you can outsource the load planning, freight pay and audit to 3pls for pennies on the dollar. Some industries are a lot harder than others, but if large wms/TMS/other vendors are smart, they would try to create solutions specific for that industry and be the leading vendor in that space. -coming from an idiot with 7 years of logistics experience.
