Lack of belief/passion about the importance of our profession, I guess that’s not a sign but you can notice the attitude pretty easily.

On that note, low emotional intelligence would be another. Like those kids with finance degrees that think our job only consists of spreadsheets and sharpe ratios come in and sound like a nervous 12 year old whenever they have to talk to another human

Taking business refusals as personal rejection.

Zero self improvement
Not swinging at every pitch
Worrying if you should set a minimum fee early
Not qualifying people before you see them
Thinking you need the customer
Telling them lots of things that you know.
Not asking amazingly good questions.
Worrying that you look too young
Not knowing anybody

Bit of a niche topic: I’ve been in TS/SCI processing for a Science/Tech/Weapons analyst position with the CIA for 3 yrs since I finished grad school in chemistry, but CIA positions are sort of set it and forget it since they can take so long. I’ve since been focused on a Patent Attorney track and am with a firm that will support me taking the patent bar/law school. If I get through processing and go to the CIA for some time, do you think would I be accepted back into patent law later on?

I need help figuring out if I’m being underpaid. I’m working in real estate private equity and I focus on fund models and property valuations. I’m currently at base $80k and 20% bonus. On top of that I have 5 years experience and a masters in finance. I’m good at my job and receive positive reviews from everyone. I feel like I should be compensated better but the company says that’s what they think I’m worth. Any help or insights would be great!
