All wire transfers are sent through the Federal Reserve. 6 pm is the Fed’s cutoff to send wires on any business day. While you won’t get same day confirmation, particularly for late wires sent year-end, it’s still 6 pm. Banks each have their own same day cutoffs (some of which are a lot earlier) but if you’re a significant customer (ie, your law firm), your bank will show you some flexibility.
