My company covers in depth results each week, including meetings set/attended, wins, revenue, retention etc. I feel as if evaluating in such depth is detrimental to the psyche, as you never get to “ride the high.” In addition, some weeks are simply slower than others, and it’s not always representative of what the results at the end of the period or quarter will be. Is this not a big deal, and I’m I placing too much importance on it? Or is it beneficial to review results less frequently?

Anyone live with a general plat exception rather than insisting upon the title company specifying the matters on plat which constitute exceptions? This deal is in Source Carolina, but I don’t think the title company is pushing back because of any state law issue. I’m a 3rd year RE associate who just migrated out of Big Law to in-house RE Private Equity. Salary is 200k, and bonus last year was $125k ($325k all in). Want to know if this is comparable to big law, now that there’s such a huge rush for associates.

I’m a third year associate in CRE. Want to to in house if possible - what’s the move?

Graduated 2019, admitted late 2019, been practicing almost three years. First two in LT lit, then almost a year in transactional. Making $70k now working from 9:30-7:00.. almost non- stop. No time for lunch type of work dynamic. Daily tasks: Attend 1-2 closings and 1-2 signing contract with client . I don’t mind the work, just $70k is hard to sustained a living, any ideas on how I can transition to a better paying transactional practice area? 😐

Associate here with 3 years mid-law oil and gas title experience and 2 years of running the residential real estate practice of a small firm. I am extremely motivated to lateral into a commercial real estate mid or big law firm to expand my practice and experience into CRE since all signs are showing CRE is primed for huge growth. Any tips on selling myself to these firms?

In your practice, do you take deed permitted exceptions from the title commitment or the owner’s proforma? I was taught they should come exclusively from the commitment, but I’ve recently been working with a new team that takes the opposite stance. I’m curious what other teams do.
