When you feel like you could be providing better work product and feel like your partner isn’t your biggest fan, what advice would you have?

Has anyone else tried Strattera, had success, and a few months later felt like work was a struggle again? Am I imagining it? There are reasons why I should not take stimulants, but I miss that feeling of being a “regular” person at work and so am curious if others have had a similar journey and where you all ended up

Things are apparently going to get better after a client will be leaving, I’ll get to work on different brands but I am feeling pretty burnt out from the agency I’m at. Will new clients help? 2020 grad M&A/PE Associate in LCOL area thinking about moving to a ECVC/M&A boutique. I generally like the work I do and the people I work with, but I really don’t like the hours and the constant late nights and weekends. Currently on pace for 2250. Boutique I have been eyeing has billable hour requirement of 1500-1600 and comes with a 20-25% paycut. Is this a stupid idea and should I grind it out until I can move in house? Will this ruin my opportunities down the road?

I know that the general advice is not to cut your own time, but if you think you took WAY TOO LONG on something should you? I don’t want partners to think of me as inefficient.

I have an interview for an in house position (only attorney) at a small non-profit focused on conservation easements. I am a transactional associate at a mid sized law firm. The prospect of freedom from the billable hour and contributing to meaningful work are the draws. The cons are that while the salary at the non-profit would only be slightly less than what I am making now, pay increases and opportunities for advancement will be much less than where I am now. Thoughts on making the shift?

Does anyone’s dog look at them with puppy eyes when you leave for work so you tell them you have to go make money to afford their lifestyle? 🤣

I'm moving my firm to a non hourly model. I want to encourage efficiency and discourage the work your life away model.

For litgation we're thinking past pleadings and MTDS then X, Discovery than Y, SMJ motions then Z trial then Q.

What are your thoughts on this ? What are my issues here. I think the hardest one is to predict discovery. But I also think we can outsource some of this to cheeper labor and lean on our tech to not actually have to review everything.

First year review: I have to become a better legal writer/ writer in general. Writing was never a strong suit and this has to change.

If a firm has multiple openings that you’re interested in, is it a good or bad idea to apply to more than one position? I’m a third year interested in retooling from lit to general corp, but they prefer someone with 3+ years of corporate experience. They’re also looking for an M&A with 1+ years, so it may be easier to aim for that, but I’ve heard horror stories re WLB for M&A. Would still try it out tho bc I’m desperate to leave lit, but don’t want to make a faux pas. Any insights appreciated!
