Had an interview yesterday, and I keep replaying my answers. I think I did well but don't think I stood out. I talked about overcoming personal setbacks to achieve my goals, and that was received well. Do you think sharing a brief follow-up story about that struggle, in a thank-you note, could make a difference in reinforcing my dedication? Or do I just stop here and hope for the best?

A thank you note is not the place to introduce another story or experience. You should write the same amount in an email that you would on a note card - 5-7 sentences.

You might thank the interviewer for the opportunity to share some personal stories, noting that you were grateful that they are interested in who you are as a person beyond just the accomplishments captured on your resume.

Reinforce your dedication to their program - why YOU belong in the class and what you are excited to bring to both the classroom and outside activities.

Agree with this

Sure, as long as it adds genuine depth and adds more info about your dedication without sounding repetitive or overly emotional. I would usually advise against it, but resilience is a highly valued trait in MBA candidates so I think it's not a bad idea to follow up.

When would be the right time for me to get an MBA given my background?

I was a teacher for 4 years and transitioned into the corporate world. I have 6 months experience in marketing and that’s what I currently do, but plan for a lateral move in the future. I’ve seen suggestions of 3-7 years experience - does my teaching experience factor in? Or should I consider the 3-7 years only of my corporate time? Or is an MBA sooner a good move because of my big career transition (and future lateral)?

Interviewing question: for anecdotal “tell me abt a time when..”, & similar questions - are you allowed to recycle stories from your undergrad years or do they only look for post grad/work stuff? Afraid some of the stories that sounded okay at undergrad recruiting might now come across as a bit “lightweight” in this context...like would they eye roll if we start talking about that one time we did a science competition sophomore year of college (even though it taught an important lesson)..etc.🤔

Hey guys, need some advice. I was fortunate enough to get the Consortium fellowship at Ross but am also stuck on the CBS waitlist and am still planning to apply to Wharton in R3. Assuming I get into CBS/Wharton, is there that much of a difference between them to forgo scholarship money? For context, I want to get into product management at FAANG/fintech with pursuing MBB as a plan B. Thanks in advance!
