FA1, same here. But on the same token, I don’t manage my own investments now because I have over 10 years in and understand behavioral bias when it comes to your own money.

OP, it just takes time. No certificate, designation, or license will get you there any faster.

Think of it this way. Fake it 'till you make it. At some point you will REALIZE that the time you've spent compiling failures AND successes have truly made you a valuable and trusted advisor. It takes years, if you're sufficiently humble and honest with yourself. Keep in mind that simply by daily immersion in the industry places you well ahead of the general population. Never be satisfied that you have accumulated all the knowledge and wisdom you'll ever need, as that day never comes. Simply keep your nose to the grindstone, taking well-earned vacations to avoid burnout. And, someday, you'll realize that you truly are confident in your abilities. Stay the course.

Have 5 years of experience now. Knowing what I know now I would never trust my finances with an advisor with less than 5 years of experience

Take a course in intro - mid - advanced finance. You'll be able to talk to actual finance theory with your clients and knowledge = trust. There are probably free courses out there, Khan academy maybe or free online Yale courses....they're out there. Warren buffet case studies and financial history. Stock market crashes - 2008 - Read liars poker. Watch the HBO Madoff movie, American psycho, wolf of Wall Street, boiler room. And read financial news daily! Knowledge is power. Know about Enron, Arthur Anderson. Financial theory.....

I see two crowds these days. One thinks housing market will crash. The other thinks housing market will soar.

The contrarian in me makes me think this is a decent indication that housing market will stagnate (or increase minimally) for a few years.

As a general rules, I feel like the majority cannot foresee a crash/surge coming. The prevalence of such expectations would hamper the pre-conditions necessary for such a dramatic change.

My SO adds very little to our relationship. She has a dead end job. I cook. I work. I oversee finances. I plan trips. She doesn’t have a voice in the relationship. I’ve asked her to give her perspective but she always defaults to mine bc she thinks I’m smarter/worldly. She feels intimated by me and my social circle. Lately, I’ve found myself thinking for her. Anticipating her wants and needs and then adjusting my behavior to meet them. Which she appreciates but it’s frustrating 29M 27F
