I have at a former role. It was an employee stealing high end liquors. I was in Inventory Control at the time. I would almost bet that the culprits are connected to someone who works for the WH.
I wouldn't doubt it at all. I wish I could prove it to get myself off the line for this. I'm so angry at whoever has done this.
We had an alarm and I was called out if it ever went off at our warehouse. And agree with previous, usually there is an inside aspect to the thefts. Why are they blaming you, were there no signs of tampering with doors/alarms or something? To protect yourself, could recommend a buddy sign off going forward, at least 2 people check the alarm is set / doors locked.
I guess they're blaming me because whoever broke in was able to, but we have pretty strict security measures. I'm at a loss as to how it happened too, and the stress of being blamed for it isn't going to help me problem solve for the future or figure out who did it this time.
Unless you did it, it isn't your fault.
Ask them how security allowed the person(s) in the area, where are their cameras, what are the access control measures for that area, what do the access control records show, why does the inventory not have several layers of security to ensure that employees fault is kept to a minimum?
I worked access security and logistics for one of my positions.
At the very least, the area should be access controlled with badge use and cameras.
Thankfully, I haven't yet. But we have an alarm. We've tested it out before just to make sure it really works.
What? It's not your fault. I'm sure there's footage to prove that you've locked everything up.
Why is that? Did you explain the matter to them?
That is not right. You have nothing to worry about. It is the company's duty to ensure security.
Do you have any cameras around the area? How did they get in in the first place? I think that's more on the security personnel.
Don't stress yourself too much about it, OP. Are they forcing you to take responsibility? Everything will be okay, OP.
