It’s absolutely possible. There are people that have done this working jobs that pay considerably less than Consulting. Achieving FIRE is primarily based on lifestyle expense, as well as your definition of “early”. If you’re an above average performer and you’re hired out of undergrad, you can make partner (or equivalent) by 35-37. Work as a partner for 8 years, leave at 45, and you can definitely have enough to retire if you’re reasonably smart with your money

If you're married with no kids amd your wife also works
Usually works with dual income. I've seen it happen among consultants with equity ownership at their companies.
No but all these jokers “retiring” at 35 with $3M is hilarious to me.
To be very clear – it is funny to me because even fully invested $3M (even $4M) isn’t enough to live on for the rest of your life if you stop working that young. 4% rule only applies for 30 years and everyone saying that they can live off savings until SS kicks in has clearly never lived off of SS (not to mention that your SS check will be extra peanuts because you’ve contributed less over your lifetime). Maybe things could work out if you live the miserly lifestyle P1 references (and to be sure I love frugality) and don’t ever get sick, but I don’t think any of us can plan to “not get sick or become disabled.”
Dude of course it's possible. You can do partner for a couple years at t2 or mbb and bounce. Live modestly and you can live off 4m
What is an average compensation for 28-year’s experience, $15B in contract wins, Managing Director?
Yes
Depends on what your retirement lifestyle looks like. $3M at 45 would probably be enough if you're debt free. Gives you at least a $1M fund to live off of for 20 years before you take SS benefits.
