Has anyone ever run into any issues with their background check? A potential employer looked into my marketing award designations (think SuperLawyers) and questioned me on why I was not on the SuperLawyers website. Apparently if you don’t keep your profile updated or if you move firms SuperLawyers may remove your profile. Pretty shocked that a firm would even care about this.

That’s just weird. I have never heard anyone other than consumer facing lawyers (divorce, DUI, PI, employment) care about super lawyers and the idea that it’s part of a background check is insane.

I kind of see their point. Obviously, you put it on your resume. They went to look for it and it wasn’t there.

Probably more a matter of integrity than caring if you actually have the designation. Dumbest thing ever to lie about but I’m sure some yahoo has, so if it’s easy to verify then it seems reasonable to confirm like all the other stupid stuff the confirm.

I shared the link to the firm news that I was nominated but they insisted that I look into it further. Frankly I feel a bit offended.

Huh, weird.

How did the new firm even know about it in the first place?

I guess it depends on the type of firm, but see how some firms could care about something like this.

I've recently got an offer for 60k yearly in Hamburg. They're sponsoring relocation for myself and wife as well and 3 month stay.
Currently placed at 20 lpa with 7 years of exp and wife at 12 lpa.
And before moving she would have to put down the papers and search for job there afresh.
I'm also having offer for 30+ lpa in India.
Would it be a wise decision to move there. Would I be able to save enough and enjoy as well?

Coming up on one full year at an ID firm. Feeling overwhelmed with my experience so far. I’ve received minimal training/feedback unless it was on something I messed up. It feels like the expectations don’t align with my level of experience. I have a case load of 45-55 with very little oversight or involvement from partners. Turnover is extremely high, as I’m the second longest tenured associate in the office. Looking for some guidance on whether this is the norm or not. Compensation is low 80’s.

I’m a second year BigLaw associate that pays market. I was offered the position at a modified salary and hourly expectation due to their expected work flow needs. I’m wondering what is the best way to approach the topic of getting on the full salary/hours. Do I wait until the bonuses are given at the end of my first year? Or bring it up at mid-year review? I won’t have any problem meeting my hourly so I’m starting to think I’m being underpaid. I’ve been reading on here that not meeting
