Has anyone ever run into any issues with their background check? A potential employer looked into my marketing award designations (think SuperLawyers) and questioned me on why I was not on the SuperLawyers website. Apparently if you don’t keep your profile updated or if you move firms SuperLawyers may remove your profile. Pretty shocked that a firm would even care about this.

Is it common practice in Singapore for firms to have a probation period for new joiners (duration at their discretion), during which new joiners can be fired at a week’s notice period?

I've recently got an offer for 60k yearly in Hamburg. They're sponsoring relocation for myself and wife as well and 3 month stay.
Currently placed at 20 lpa with 7 years of exp and wife at 12 lpa.
And before moving she would have to put down the papers and search for job there afresh.
I'm also having offer for 30+ lpa in India.
Would it be a wise decision to move there. Would I be able to save enough and enjoy as well?

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. Coming up on one full year at an ID firm. Feeling overwhelmed with my experience so far. I’ve received minimal training/feedback unless it was on something I messed up. It feels like the expectations don’t align with my level of experience. I have a case load of 45-55 with very little oversight or involvement from partners. Turnover is extremely high, as I’m the second longest tenured associate in the office. Looking for some guidance on whether this is the norm or not. Compensation is low 80’s.

I’m a second year BigLaw associate that pays market. I was offered the position at a modified salary and hourly expectation due to their expected work flow needs. I’m wondering what is the best way to approach the topic of getting on the full salary/hours. Do I wait until the bonuses are given at the end of my first year? Or bring it up at mid-year review? Is there an appropriate way to turn down an assignment because it is non-billable? Two of the partners I work for keep asking me to write client bulletins and articles with them, which is great, but now I’m starting to worry about meeting my billable hours requirement.

At an ID firm, but doing 30% ID, and the rest is appellate work + appellate work in a different area of law. Team is amazing—well known people in the legal community.
