Anyone transition from litigation to consulting? Not sure how to write a cover letter when I’m interested in consulting but have been a litigator for 4 years

Former consultants who moved to PE, how and when did you decide you wanted to make the transition vs continuing to do DDs/PE work from the consulting side?

I am currently working in advertising with experience on fintech & CPG. I would like to work in tech marketing, specifically Google’s APMM program.
I’ve been studying some PM/PMM books/podcasts/videos, attending Google events, and want to keep learning more to try to prepare myself as much as I can.

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.

Hi Fellow Fishes! I need some urgent advice. I had accepted a job offer at a really good company with a good role and team. I am due to start that new job on Monday 30th Aug. Now the thing is I have a better job offer from one of my dream companies-i would be really stupid not to take that offer. So I would be declining the job at the first company just 2 days before i am supposed to start! I know its a good problem to have but a very unpleasant conversation with them. Qualified Dividends: I’m expecting $650-$750 qualified dividend in 2021. Salary and base about $250 total. Questions: what tax rate will the qualified dividend be taxed at? The 15% or 20%? Also, since it’s technically a long term gain, do I have to pay an state and local on the income? Been reading for a bit and I can’t seem to find a clear answer. Thanks fishies!

My company covers in depth results each week, including meetings set/attended, wins, revenue, retention etc. I feel as if evaluating in such depth is detrimental to the psyche, as you never get to “ride the high.” In addition, some weeks are simply slower than others, and it’s not always representative of what the results at the end of the period or quarter will be. Is this not a big deal, and I’m I placing too much importance on it? Or is it beneficial to review results less frequently?

I accepted a job offer in April to start a few months from now, post clerkship. All conflicts/background check went smoothly etc. Since accepting my offer, the firm has increased their 1st year pay across the board to be higher than my offer was (which was, at the time, what 2nd yeas got). I’m at a mid size transactional firm. I’m a total night owl and my partners have OK’d me starting the workday at around 11am because I regularly work until midnight or later. I get so much more done after dark! I still get some side eye from other associates, but 🤷🏽‍♀️
