Last week- found out my boss, and our firm owner, has stolen from clients by adding expenses we didn’t spend.
Today- boss opens firm despite corona positive employee while the rest of us are waiting on our results. Told me to learn how to do his secretarial work.
What do I do? I can’t quit without another job and I have only been here 19 months. First job I was only at for 9 months so I’m scared to apply to new places.

19 months is a long time, you’re fine to leave. Start actively looking for a new job ASAP and jump ship as soon as possible. This sounds like a terrible environment, I’m sorry you’re going through this.

Also, nobody is going to think twice about weirdness on your resume in 2020, just like nobody batted an eye at gaps or short gigs on resumes in 2008 to 2010

Thank you for that!

Well I hate to be the one to point this out but if you are aware of client fraud and you haven’t reported it you are part of the problem.

Agree- you have a reasonable amount of time to report. But get out as quickly as you can, even if it means being unemployed for awhile. You don’t want it coming back on you

Def get out of there asap! You don’t wanna be associated with those kinds ethical issues especially early on in your career.

I have an offer to join a startup as an APM. The only downside is that the engineering team is located offshore in India. I’m concerned about the resulting impact because of 1) the potential late night calls 2) the learning opportunities missed by not working with a US engineering team (communication tactics, translatable skills) 3) potential exit opps into FAANG pm roles due to not having experience with an onshore eng team. Would any one be able to speak to this from experience or share advice

Enrolled in Stern for a few weeks.
The number of the alumni and current students that go to top consulting firms FT& summer intern are countless even for a small class size.
Stern is way more than a finance school. Given its location, do you want to spend your 2 years in a rural area or heart of Manhattan? Location is almost everything for business school. (I have a friend in Cornell that frequently travels about 5 hours to NYC for events.)

I’m a second year BigLaw associate that pays market. I was offered the position at a modified salary and hourly expectation due to their expected work flow needs. I’m wondering what is the best way to approach the topic of getting on the full salary/hours. Do I wait until the bonuses are given at the end of my first year? Or bring it up at mid-year review? I won’t have any problem meeting my hourly so I’m starting to think I’m being underpaid. I’ve been reading on here that not meeting

Anyone else having trouble focusing today? Every time I have a long break and come back to the office I’m reminded how much I don’t like my current job. ID Associate and I have such a hard time concentrating even after a week off. I find it mind-numbing and unfulfilling. I’m never excited to come to work anymore for the past few months now. Just found out from a legal recruiter that I’m also way underpaid here. Hopeful I’ll get a job in a diff area of law or find another calling altogether.

Q’s for hiring partners and recruiters - you know that most associates quit their managing attorneys and not the firm/case. I’m in that boat. What do I say to a prospective employer about the situation of why I want to jump ship?

Very brief background - I’m a senior associate who has been on one complex commercial litigation case for over a year. Over time, the relationships between attorneys on the case have deteriorated to the point that it is affecting my productivity/work. I want out.

I am concerned with fulfilling billable hours requirement. I’m required to hit 2100 hours yearly and I’m at ~1,500 hours and I think I’ll hit 150-180hours this month. What will happen if I don’t hit my targeted amount by the end of my year.
