I create inbox folders for each client and matter (with the c/m in the folder name) and do my best to sort emails as they come. Move folders for inactive matters to a master “inactive” folder to avoid clutter.
Also use Outlook rules to filter newsletters and other regular administrative emails to a special folder.
Same. And share inbox with assistant to be saving emails for you or to keep apprised on status
I do a separate folder for each of my cases. I even add my sent emails into the respective folders, so that it’s easy to see all of my emails for one case in one place.
Echoing the above A1 but adding that I religiously use flagging so that my flagged emails serve as my to-do list. Once I take care of it, unflag.
Yeah echoing associate 1 - when sending emails I bcc myself so that I can move the sent email (which shows up as an email coming in because I bcc’d myself) in the respective client email folder
I also have a separate email folder for helpful tips (like administrative tasks like how to request leave)
Agree with all. Organize correspondence related to cases like they are physical file folders: label with client/case; keep separate folder for bar association, HR, other non-case emails; and move your sent emails to folders as well. It can get out of hand really fast. It’s worth it to get your system set up asap and just move emails as you address them. Good luck!
Thank you all for the suggestions.
