Your employer still needs to have a Canadian legal office/branch. Not physical, but the paperwork, for tax purposes. It's not hard to get and many employers have that. I work for a US company that has some Canadian employees. We got an office downtown too (but nobody goes there). I ended up getting a work visa, because I was traveling to US for work at first a lot, and it was a bit dicey at the border sometimes. It's a good deal. But here's the thing - they're mostly hiring from India now. They opened up a physical office in India and a hiring people there as full time employees.
