Do tech companies in Canada give out RSUs or equivalent?

I was Listening to a podcast today about people in US tech getting rich from 50k to 100k of annual RSUs in the US that vest over 3 to 5 years then making millions when the company exits.

Wondering if there are similar opportunities in Canada or is it less common to receive a decent amount of equity here?

Which podcast ?

I’m aware of private companies with share offerings for active employees which have been quite fruitful but it doesn’t seem to be something that we have much of compared to the US

USA pays more on everything not Canada so no!

Some companies do give out RSUs, one that I know of is Walmart (manager level and above). Big tech companies should do the same. Smaller start ups you may get equity, but the company exits may not be as common as in the US.

Yes, most tech companies do

Yeah RSUs are fairly standard. For new hires, stock typically vests over 4 years but I’m not sure if they’ve shortened that duration now. They also love handing out stock rewards for performance. Compensation used to be very competitive but they haven’t been able to keep that up due to recent inflation and salaries sky rocketing

I joined a new consulting firm and have been here for 6 months. Recently, a SaaS client (1k employees) that hired my old consulting firm reached out to me about a job opening - Lead BA working primarily to implement their benefit admin system for insurance companies. The client and coworkers were all nice, but I remember being stressed on the project due to limited resources.
