Have a job offer from a federal government agency. One of the requirements of the tentative job offer is to talk to my current supervisor. I’m assuming my supervising partner will say good things about me, but the time period between the tentative job offer and final is probably a month or two. Will the firm fire me during that time? For income reasons, I’d love obviously want to keep working during that time, but anyone know what is normal?

Does anyone know if this is normal? I joined a vault 100 firm in September last year. The firm put me on tier 7. In January I had the associate review and everything was normal. After a couple of weeks, I got the call from the hiring partner telling my bonus and new salary (because of the firm-wide salary increase). I realized I still get paid as a 7 year associate. The partner said because I joined the firm later in the year, it’s normal not to advance in the next year. Is it? Thanks!
