Vet the job opportunity and really really tailor your resume and understand the role before submitting… I feel now more than ever.. submitting and semi-tailoring your resume just does not cut it
You have to tailor it to match exact words in the requirements of the position within your experience. Reason, a lot of resumes are sorted by AI looking for keywords and if your resume doesn’t have certain keywords it doesn’t even make it to actual hands. Trust me, try it!
I had a friend with a similar issue. He just went a got an accounting degree after we talked & he’s been golden ever since. Works for the IRS now
Also, if you know someone within the company that can refer you for the position you are applying for usually helps at least get you an interview.
