More money. 😊
Always negotiate. They expect it. Great that you’re happy with it, but isn’t more money always better than less?
I felt greedy but yes, I have done that before because of all the literature on women settling for the first offer and not negotiating when men do it all the time! I tried it and it worked, and I was so proud of myself 😅
We need to advocate for ourselves! The formula I’ve followed that’s worked well, is to take your salary, plus your bonus and make that your lower range then add another 10k as the top level. It was a strategy taught to me by a recruiter and I’ve been able to in some cases increase my base salary 20k or more when I have switched jobs.
Can you give an exampleon me? Cz im in a sales job, i dont get a bonus, I get commision (not sure if jt works the same) . My OTE cap is 130K and my base is 67K

Yes! The way I see it is that you're setting the stage to the new company that you know your worth.
LOVE this take!

People say always negotiate a salary, I think it’s circumstantial.
In my last role they asked what salary range I was looking for and they delivered the high number of the range on my offer so I didn’t negotiate. I padded my requested range high than what I really wanted so I didn’t feel the need to negotiate further because they met my initial request.
if you're relocating, you should definitely negotiate whether it's salary or relocation assistance, COL is likely to be different wherever your moving to
Always negotiate. My sister works in HR and that’s the advice she always gives. The worst they can say is no
First of all, know your worth, what you bring to the table (to drive your point home on why you want a higher salary), and do you research—not only the salary you deserve with your level of experience but also depending on location and COL. I always negotiate, and here’s why. I have never received bonuses or more than 3-4% in annual COL raises. COL typically increases at a higher rate than these annual raises. This is your opportunity to land the highest salary possible, which in turn then becomes the baseline for every single raise or promotion going forward. A higher starting salary = more money each raise even if you only get the measly 3-4% annual raises.
Honestly, I always try to negotiate for the salary. There is nothing wrong about aiming for a bigger number. It's survival so never settle for less. They should pay pay you more because yoour skill is worth more.
Almost always, yes. Partially due to the fact I've seen men get overpaid for the same role as a woman in my past roles/companies, I felt I needed to remind myself of that. But also because I know my worth -- I only fought when I knew that I deserved more (either due to research, my experience, etc.). The one time I didn't, I knew my value and gave my range and they came right in at the top -- I didn't want to fight for more when I know I didn't need to -- they gave me what my worth was and wanted m. Just do your research, and know your worth...
Always negotiate. That is my number one rule. You never know how much money you are leaving on the table if you don't.
At my last position, they shared the range with me early in the process. The offer was at the top of the range. That's the only time I didn't negotiate. I mean, they told me what they were offering and I was offered the top of the range. I suppose I could have been pushy and asked for over the range, but it didn't feel right to me.
