Rising Star
Don’t see how this would ever actually work. Scopes, contracts, and the absolutely massive risk of your client warming up to your direct competitor. Pretty silly notion if I’m interpreting it correctly.
Now if you’re all part of an IAT then that’s different. Though in that case you wouldn’t be competing as each has clearly defined roles and scopes.
The client pays your agency, bringing in another agency reduces the amount of money your agency brings in. Scope is the amount of people and hours the agency puts on a project, less money coming into your agency means fewer people working on the project. Plus if the client likes the other agency more, you could lose the whole account to them. In my experience, inter agency teams are a) usually agencies focused on different disciplines and b) almost always a turf war where everyone’s fighting to get a bigger chunk of client budget and nobody wants to collaborate.
Collaborating with rival agencies actually happens more than you’d think, especially for big campaigns. Bringing in great creative minds can really make work stand out, so suggesting it shows you’re thinking big picture, not just playing it safe. I say go for it!
