Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

I’ve noticed it can actually be easier with smaller companies sometimes. They’re more flexible and can get creative with perks or bonuses, even if the base salary isn’t huge. Larger companies often have stricter bands, but they can offer other benefits like stock or development opportunities. What have you seen?
In my experience at bigger companies, they’re super rigid on pay and title changes and have to do everything properly which can be frustrating.
I've found it easier with smaller companies, which seems counterintuitive at first. I would have thought a big company has more money and they don't care so much about giving it up. Wrong! They can have a lot of guidelines and the hiring managers may have their hands tied when it comes to negotiating. A smaller organization can be more flexible as people may have more autonomy in those decisions.
Yeah ive noticed this too, bigger companies are more likely to stick by the arbitrary rules.

I’ve heard otherwise!
Larger companies! Because they have more standardized processes in my experience
That’s good to hear, I’ve always heard/experienced the opposite.
