Have you found that hiring in industry tends to pick up at a certain point, such as after the busy season or at the start of a new quarter? I'm starting my search and just curious about the timing. I want to make sure I’m looking when the most solid roles are open.

Typically before or after busy season, not during. At least that's when I've had the most luck with my applications. That said, everything is out the window now because of this job market. I wouldn't wait for a specific time to start applying. Just set alerts and submit applications whenever you see a role that sounds promising.

You’re not imagining it—there’s definitely a cycle.
Post–busy season is when people start thinking, but many wait until bonuses and promotions shake out. From late spring into early summer is usually when hiring (and responsiveness) really picks up.
Starting early conversations now is still useful—it gives you context so you can move quickly when the timing aligns.

It's not as cyclical as it used to be. Things are a lot less stable than they used to be so hiring is a lot more spread out throughout the year. Don't wait for any specific time, just start applying.

About to get promoted at PwC from Associate to Senior Associate (mgmt consulting). I interviewed at Deloitte for a Consultant position, but they’re potentially giving me an offer for BA. I’d essentially be holding out on the promo until next promo cycle. Usually, I’d understand hiring at a level below for higher levels but I feel like doing a 3rd year as a junior might not be the best decision. Should I push HR for Consultant level? I haven’t gotten the official offer letter yet, just verbal.

Is it too late in our lives to jump into a mortgage?

So my fiancée and I are relatively late in terms of finally landing well paying jobs and being able to save money instead of living paycheck to paycheck. We’re both 36 and currently rent a 2 bedroom in NY and have a combined savings of $35,000 which she wants to use as a down payment on a condo. I kinda just wanna continue saving while renting. I also literally just started contributing to my 401K so I’m also late in the game for that too.
