I haven't touched my DSLR since getting a mirrorless. (Amateur photographer but it's so much lighter for travel and easier to use)
It really depends on what you’re interested in. I’m using both DSLR and micro 4/3 mirrorless. They’re very similar in terms of quality. But micro 4/3 can’t really handle low light.
Mirrorless. I grew up on SLRs, but unless you are a super serious photographer there is nothing a mirrorless won’t do for you. On the low light issue, that depends on the camera you buy. My current mirrorless is the fastest (able to shoot in low light) camera I have ever owned - it has an f1.6 lens.
Mirrorless camera recommendation for beginners but want to pursue seriously ?
I’d go with a micro 4/3, primarily for the selection of lenses available. The Panasonic G9 is great for photography, but if you’re also into videography, the GH5 is superb.
If you anticipate doing significant low light photography, then Sony can’t be beat.
Yeah the only reason I haven’t gone Mirrorless is due to all the glass I own for the Nikon bodies I’ve bought over the years. Now Nikon has their mirrorless so as soon as the next generation comes out I’m flipping.
I’m sort of in the Chase Jarvis “best camera is the one you have with you” camp, so anytrhing that is easy to bring around is great for me. Love the form factor of the fuji mirrorless cameras, and they work great with my analogye lenses.
