If I’ve already agreed to a start date on 11/28 how bad would it be to reach out and ask to push it to 12/5?

Any CPAs out there that decided to buy and run a business? Curious if my theory that after advising businesses how to run efficiently and effectively, that I could fairly easily deploy this experience in an existing business. I resigned from Cognizant recently and now the manager is saying they will raise a request for Canada work permit for me.

My question is how genuine can that promise be ? Anyone faced similar situation before ? How Canada work permits generally happen here in CTS and how many months it can take ?
