Hey everyone! I'm looking to move laterally from FD to Legal Reception, with plans to eventually return to school to become a paralegal.
I was thinking I should learn about and pursue a professional cert to cover some of the knowledge gaps and give myself a leg up in the application process. Any reommendations on where to look? I've been looking but struggling to find info on classes and pricing.

Contact your local paralegal professional association. Many paralegals follow the same path you're contemplating. They may have advice.

In my experience, most firms wouldn't expect a new legal secretary to have much legal knowledge.

Thanks! I'll do some looking to find local associations.

I'd love to hope for a place willing to train from scratch, but with the job market as it is I doubt I'll hear back any time soon and I may as well use the time to improve my chances and marketability.

Best case, I hear back quickly and interviewing staff get an additional positive impression from my active pursuit of further learning in lieu of current college enrollment.

Anyone been able to work from Dubai for a UK/US firm and benefit from no taxes? I know if you are a US citizen you pay taxes where you are globally, but if you are British, then you only pay income tax on UK income - so if you live more than half the year abroad you are classed as non-domicile resident, but wanted to hear if anyone’s done this or heard about it?

Incoming MBA, I have my tuition paid for and rent covered (I will be an RA). So the only thing I need to pay for is food and entertainment. Do you think 20k is enough to last me through the 2 years? I will make a little money interning in the summer, so that would be a safety valve if I blow through the 20k.

There’s no excuse that by the age of 25 you have never tried therapy. I’m speaking directly to the demographic in this group who I’m sure over 95% of people in here are earning 6 figures. Key word: TRY. I understand it’s not for everyone but to have never even attempted seeking therapy is a injustice to yourself and the people around you.

Need advice and help.

I have realized I grew up in a household where my dad did not treat my mom as an equal. He belittles her, is rude and convinced his way is the only way.

It is painful to say, but some of this shows up in me and in my relationship. I am starting to catch myself, and it to me seems to be more of a reaction than anythjng that is ever intentional.

Wondering if anyone has dealt with something similar, and any success in making changes besides therapy. Cont. in comments

Hello people, how common is a Amazon to PWC move ?
I’m interviewing for a Senior Associate role and TC seems to be more competitive than role in L5.

TC $114k- Base AMZ- $73k +$38kstocks ( vesting 17k$ due next year)

TC $135k Base PWC -$81$ + Bonuses ( 50k$)

Looking for managerial skills which the PWC role avails, and L6 promo doesn’t seem to be happening soon in current role. I’m also mentally stretched. I hear WLB in PWC is just as busy but can anyone confirm if this move makes any sense. Google Amazon
