Studied accounting and finance but worried about the future of this profession. Currently working in Forensic Consulting but want to leave. Should I go back to undergrad and get a computer science degree? I honestly want a career where I could at least potentially make 600 k per year. I feel in accounting it’s near impossible. Additionally, I’m sick of people looking down on me. My gf is getting a PhD in a social science and gets way more respect then me. I am 25 also. HELP

@senior producer I mean, I don't fault OP for setting high aspirations. I imagine everyone on this app (myself included) has goals similar to that. It was just worded in a way that envoked images in my head of someone saying that in passing with no real intentions of chasing it. OP is in accounting so s/he is obviously a hard worker and ambitious. It's not impossible.

Butt being real OP, I don't make anything near $600k, but like you, I have aspirations to get there eventually. My thought is that that much is not really achievable through a single income source. You'll need a decent side hustle, trade, great bonus, equity, and a good salary. At least, that's my plan to make good money. You need to diversify income streams. Look into rental properties, buy a business that is staffed up (so you don't have to run it), and get equity where you work. I'd say getting a second bachelor is the loooong route to riches. Maybe an MBA and try to pivot from there

I am preparing for Faang companies. I am comfortable with Ds/algo but have poor knowledge in system design (LLD/HDD). How do guys who get the offers from these companies prepared these subjects? Please suggest any book /online tutorial recommendations?

Fish who have been feds,

I have been stuck deciding between two offers (both in IC, but one is more program analysis -similar to consulting work but on the fed side, and actual analysis).

The program analysis offer is at a higher GS level and a more well known agency, but is not what I’m interested in.

Does anyone have any advice on how to make a decision? Go with what I want to do, or go with the more well known agency and higher gs?

Outside of FAANG, what are good large CA-based tech companies that provide good pay, WLB, and culture? DD has great people and WLB, but pay is low and you’re not given the tools and resources to succeed + truly make an impact. Google and Apple are ideal but need backups. Like is Salesforce still good? A company along those lines.
