It’s extremely toxic. I slowly find myself getting more and more over the ideal of playing into it. Especially because for a lot of black and brown people, workplace politics is just microaggressions and inequitable racial guidelines in my opinion. My goal has been to challenge myself to let go of notions like that and show up as myself as much as possible.

Workplace politics is a part of working in any place with more than....4 people on staff. Navigating personalities, power structures, bureaucracy, gender dynamics, etc. All normal. So not sure how to give advice here, because workplace politics are a standard norm everywhere.

Care to elaborate?

To me - even though I sincerely DREAD it, I still have to play the game. I purposely like to display a lot of psychological methods when reading people and their interactions when they’re in-office. You have know idea how much time that’s saved me from dealing with certain people lol

The absolute WORST is when they label you “quiet” - bruh I remember when I first started my role it was this yt woman and this light-skin chick that I saw/heard say that about me on my first week working for our agency lol. You know what’s funny? My entire internal team and everyone else on our account thinks the exact opposite lmaooo. Have been getting acknowledged for my hard work, charm, and character ever since for 3 months straight now too. That’s the best “F-U” 🤣
