You’re not near 300k until L6.
L5 TAM is 260-280.
L4 is 220-240

Hmm you’re confused by what you’re seeing on Glassdoor and levels? Not sure you’re going to make at G if you get in. You should also be able to easily see that L5 TC > the 260 you mentioned.
I hear new mba’s making 220k in non-highest COL, how come u only at 260 after 7 yoe?
I mean that data point is current tho they did delay start dates by like 6+ months
260k total comp (base salary, bonus and equity) is easily achievable for L5 in NYC and the Bay Area. Focus on passing the interviews if you interview, not on comp being too low.

EASILY is a strong word. Google is trimming roles and budget for new headcount.
Doable, yes. But I wouldn’t anchor on that number as a make or break.
They always try to downlevel you and start at the bottom of the comp band. Unless you’re a stellar candidate or have another offer in hand, it’s pretty tough to negotiate in the TAM role specifically.
Also why TAM? That’s not strat, heard more like tech support in a sales context
