As a boss:
1. If you force people to do a certain action,
trust will be lost.
2. If you don't force people into certain actions you will never reach goals.

As someone who is virtually our only compliance person at a mid-size company, I often get questions for legal advice. I am not an attorney and cannot give legal advice (my disclaimer), but I do look at the situation from a compliance/policy/process lens and urge to consult legal always. I feel as though it discredits me and my advice because I’m not an attorney. How can I better differentiate compliance from legal and still provide valuable advice?

At a startup I left because of this, my boss had been there since day 1. He was a nightmare. The last straw was when he took out his anger at a home issue on me and made fun of me for being upset. HR told me they couldn't do anything about him.

Hey Rob, not sure if you had a hand in crafting this, but this was - BY FAR - the best example of corporate leadership I've ever seen.
Transparent; Empathetic; Clear; Human.
Can you speak a bit about how ethics permeates AirBnBs culture?
How do you thoughtfully instill ethics with leadership and have that trickle down to the rest of the organization?
I have been approached by one of the biggest global management consulting firm for a position that requires 2+ years of experience and in locations which were not on the table in screening with hiring manager. Does the ambit and application of ethics vary per the rank and profile of an employee in the organization? For instance what would be an ethical take on the Amazon VP quitting over virus firings?
Whew. It's been a busy morning, I've had a lot of fun responding to some fascinating questions around business and ethics for the last couple hours.
