Hey Guys, hoping for some advice. I am currently weighing up a move to a tech sales role as an SDR. I would be moving from an analyst role and a likely promotion to consultant within 12 months.

The base pay is the same base I would get if promoted to consultant and I have roughly 10/15k commission on top.
I worry that if I move to tech sales I might completely be throwing away a career in consulting forever. But on the flip side, I see myself earning a lot more, faster. Any advice?

I’m currently salary but my company is offering the option to make commissions but we have no idea how to structure this and they’re leaving it up to me to decide! I support 3 recruiters and we usually keep 90-95 req’s.

2 offers:

1. Great global agency but working on a pharma account. High pay.

2. Agency that’s the butt of many jokes but working on a fun brand that they have made decent work for.

They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take? Has anyone ever asked to renegotiate their salary after starting a job? I’m 2 months into my new job and I have far more responsibilities than what I was told.
