I would recommend driving if that is at all a possibility. If you have to travel, then delta might be better as they are still blocking off the middle seat
Driving isn't any safer than flying, especially if you have to rent a car. Still have to travel to the rental location, talk to someone there after getting a car, and stop for gas.
Tbh, I'd go with the cheapest option. wear a mask, don't touch your face at all, carry enough hand sanitizer, keep a distance and you'll be fine
1. Drive 2. Delta
I don’t know how Amtrak is handling the pandemic so can’t comment on their safety measures.
Either drive or just skip it this year. Next year’s holidays should be relatively normal, we can all sacrifice for one year. I mean that’s not going to stop us from hitting 500,000 deaths before winter is over but I can hope
In order of preference: 1) Amtrak, 2) Drive, 3) Fly.
I have taken some trains in recent months and they’ve done a very good job of separating people and enforcing masks. Plenty of info online about what Amtrak is doing, even including the odd travel blogger YouTube video. Driving is fine too so long as you’re careful with where you stop, but I haven’t seen much distancing happening at rest areas personally. Flying right now seems a distant last option given reports of packed airports, which frankly is probably a greater risk than on the plane.
I’ve traveled to PA from NY recently and Amtrak trains have been basically empty. I’d suggest that over a flight.
Amtrak is very empty and also only books trains enough to have 1 person per two seats. Trains are never at that reduced capacity though. Definitely a more socially distanced experience than flying
I’ve flew twice. It is pretty safe in my opinion. You aren’t sitting next to anyone. Everyone has on mask. You are given wipes to clean the surfaces. You don’t touch anything..
I mean you gotta deal with a 14 day quarantine when you come back. Hard pass
