Hi Accounting Community! Is everyone ready and prepared for what could be the worst economic collapse of our lifetimes? It is interesting how multiple issues are happening near the 100 year anniversary of 1929. History doesn’t repeat but it sure does rhyme.

I happened to hear an interview with Andrew Ross Sorkin months ago, when he was promoting his new book on the 1929 Crash. It was interesting, and I thought about getting the book but then forgot about it. Just the other day it occurred to me that his book is getting pretty timely. What we may face will be different, but it could still be a bigger shock than anyone is currently expecting.

Totally! 💯 People are ignoring the signs but Sorkin provided all of them in his book. We better buckle up. It is going to be a helluva ride.

I am choosing to remain optimistic and believe that things will get better. I have to live that way or I will get really depressed. Whatever happens is going to happen and there isn't much we can do about it but brace for impact.

We can hold our leaders accountable. That would be a good start.

Married to a crazy rich girlfriend and it's the worst experience of my life. She can afford anything, flying first class everywhere, wears all branded stuff and she doesnt have to work for life. I am working very hard to provide for family and I am still not able to add any value to her life and she's been distancing herself. We havent had any meaningful interaction in the past 1 year too, been sleeping separately, no touch/kiss/sex or anything like that. We might be divorcing soon...

I got hired straight out from college 5 years ago from a small CPA firm and have worked in Tax ever since. Lately, I feel like this is not what I'm actually into. What else I can do with my Accounting degree?

My passion is Real Estate and Interior Design, love Managerial Accounting, I can sit for hours analyzing data, I also have a degree in Supply Chain Management.

My passion cannot feed my family but I've been burned out so much after years in Tax. 😞

Hi all,

Do firms match offers from other Big 4s for campus hires? I’ve received a campus offer from both
KPMG and EY. I’m more interested in the EY offer, but they are paying 3k less than KPMG.

Would it be a bad move to let them know about the other offer and try negotiating? I feel it wont make a difference in the long run, but at the same time I don’t want to leave any money on the table if possible.

Thanks!
