Hi all. What are the benefits of being a reserve officer? I understand they don't get paid, at least where I live.

Maintaining your certification, free training, keeping your skills sharp.

I think one of the most important things is that you have the same training as the police officers on duty, you receive training throughout the year.

Reserve officers typically receive the same annual in-service currency training as full-time police officers.

It is not always but Police agencies typically issue equipment to their reserve officers and some offer the opportunity to work in police with some works

Some agencies allow reserve officers to return to practice for a while when there is a lack of personnel due to vacations or even simply to give the officers a bit of the old days.

In addition to the monetary issue, there is also the health issue, the health insurance is maintained over time even if the reserve police officer has another part-time job.

Being a reserve cop one of the best benefits it has is that you remain a cop and are widely respected among the ranks just like a serving cop, family is priceless.

Some reserve officers have the opportunity to gain meaningful professional experience working in various roles, whether as a search and rescue team member, an emergency medical technician or even on the front line helping to protect and serve their local community.

Serving as a reserve officer can provide you with invaluable experience and leadership training that can help build your resume and take you further in your career. In addition to the skills learned while in the reserves, you may also be eligible for tuition assistance, supplemental health insurance coverage, access to military facilities and discounts, and flexible work schedules.

Being a reserve officer has a lot of potential benefits, even though it doesn't come with a paycheck. For starters, you can gain valuable experience in the field and become better acquainted with the inner workings of law enforcement and security procedures. Additionally, many police departments offer discounts on different services for their reserve officers and there may be opportunities to attend specialized training or educational programs.

The benefit of being a reserve officer, and not getting paid, is because you love the job and you’re not in it for the money

Hmm. I think skills and experience. When it comes to remuneration, some places do not pay their reserve officers.

The opportunity to have proper training. Getting paid is like a bonus. You are there because you love what you are doing.

Hi,
I graduated last year and was working with my university until last month. I extended my STEM OPT with my university before July 5th (first year OPT expiry). I got a new opportunity right after submitting my application & I notified my change in employer (submitted updated I-20 & I-983).
Last Friday, I got another opportunity that is way better than the current one and I don't want to miss. My STEM OPT application is still under review. Would it be okay if I change my employer again. Thanks!
