Not only in the US but worldwide! So many people were able to speak up and bring justice for their lives. I'm so happy it all turned out okay for them :)
It was crazy to see how many stories were unfolding on a daily basis. I understand if it was a couple victims, but it seems that the majority of hollywood people (especially women) have been abused in some form or another.
I remember bawling my eyes out whenever an abuser got justice. Whether it was imprisonment, or just being cancelled, something shifted in our society and i feel like we became even more mindful of these issues than before.
I have a friend who felt compelled to speak up about her experiences during this time. I never even knew she had gone through so much, yet it was something that weighed heavy on her head all the time. I'm so happy she is free of that now.
I was so discouraged by this because Kevin Spacey was my favorite actor and to see how much of a monster he truly was... it was awful. I am happy that he no longer has a career.
We still have a long way to go, it is time to give women the place they deserve, a place that we have historically denied them.
The movement had been in the shadows for a long time, and it came to light mostly because the media used it as a weapon to destroy certain politicians. I think that now that we are up with the movement we must make ourselves heard beyond the borders, well In our country it is not the only place where these things happen.
The movement was a tornado, now we must make it a constant storm, abuse must always be fought in this way in our country, to prevent more people from going through the same thing and to equalize opportunities regardless of sexual orientation.
This is something that we needed for a long time because the abuse reached a point in our country that it already seemed normal in almost all the rows, the higher up the more normal it was for them to abuse you, I know that this will not stop the abuses but already opens a door to fight against it.
It amazes me too, and a lot, but when you review the history of the movement you realize that it has been working for more than 40 years and it's hardly been heard, so it doesn't surprise you that much, but it does increase respect for what has been achieved.
As a street policeman more than once I saw that the person called the police for assault or abuse and then they told me that everything was fine but it was a person all beaten up, now that does not happen, people report and continue with the complaint until the last instances as it should be, I feel that the thinking of abused people has changed and it was something totally necessary, up with the movement.
