Started at a new firm a recently. I’m a little anxious about my growth opportunities. I’ve been working and billing like crazy, but the firm essentially charges insurance rates - but also are really conservative about billing and cut my hours a lot. It seems they’re really happy with my work. They’ve brought up the issue of my time and said I should be able to capture my time as long as I break the entries up more. But I think they’re still cutting it. I’m worried I won’t justify my pay goals..

Ok genuinely curious. I always hear everyone pushing STEM and coding/CS in education in order to have good jobs/high pay.
But in my non-tech-person logic, aren’t all these jobs easily off-shoreable and susceptible to elimination or automation? Is the security there in these fields?
For example, if an older person needed to retrain/re-skill bc their factory or admin job was eliminated, is this really a direction we should push if they could very well find their jobs eliminated again?
